Soon after Across the Yewpines arrived on my computer, I was having a quick browse of the contents and I’m sure I came across a reference to Ralph Roberts. I made a mental note to revisit the site and pursue this reference when I had the time, however I have searched many times since and can find no mention of Ralph, was I imagining or was it wish fulfilment that Ralph should get a name check at least, but I’m sure there was more. Since attending DD workshops here in UK, the Hammons have taken on mystical proportions, so when in 2012 I met Ralph at Clifftop and he spoke of the Hammons, I wasn’t sure where he was coming from. Now I’m eager to follow the trail, can you help?
Bob Chase
Hi Bob. I find the following mention of “Roberts” on Dwight’s site:
https://dwightdiller.com/2013/11/19/heading-back-east/
https://dwightdiller.com/2013/11/20/%EF%BF%BCbig-fight-on-sandy/
https://dwightdiller.com/2013/11/20/pert-near-cried/
https://dwightdiller.com/2013/11/20/holler-like-a-woman/
https://dwightdiller.com/2013/11/20/%EF%BF%BCwe-were-way-back-in-on-cheat-that-time/
The last one specifically mentions Ralph in Dwight’s commentary (down below the story).
Cindy Harris
Dwight’s web mechanic
Big Thankyou Cindy! The last line you highlighted was the one. Reading that note again reminds me of Clifftop 2012, when we met Ralph and his wife Charlie and spent a couple of hours playing tunes together.
